Establishing learning habits
April 28, 2026
Dear Student and Family,
Welcome to another joyful season of piano lessons at Lena’s Piano. I’m delighted to have you with us and excited for the music we’ll create together this year.
My goal as your instructor is simple: to help each student build musical skill, confidence, and a lasting love of playing. Lessons are designed to be encouraging, clear, and tailored to individual needs. Whether your child is just beginning, returning, or preparing for performance, I aim to make progress both measurable and enjoyable.
What you can expect
Patient, student-centered teaching that meets learners where they are.
A balanced approach: technique, reading, ear training, theory, and repertoire.
Regular short-term goals and periodic reviews so progress stays visible.
Performance opportunities that are supportive and joyful: studio recitals, informal showcases, and optional competitions for those who want them.
How families can help
Establish a consistent, calm practice routine. Short daily practice (15–30 minutes for younger beginners, longer for advanced students) is far more effective than infrequent long sessions.
Encourage focused practice: set a clear start and end, minimize distractions, and have materials ready (book, metronome, notebook).
Celebrate effort and improvement more than perfection. Small wins add up fast.
Lesson structure
Warm-up and technique (scales, patterns, posture).
New material introduced step-by-step.
Sight-reading or ear-training activity.
Review of previously learned pieces.
A short assignment and practice plan written down before you leave.
Communication I’ll share progress updates and assignments after lessons. Please tell me about any schedule changes, injuries, or learning concerns—that helps me adapt lessons to be safe and effective. I’m happy to answer questions by message or to schedule a quick chat when needed.
Upcoming dates and reminders
Studio recital: tentative schedule to be announced—planning starts soon.
Summer program: registration will open in May for those interested in focused workshops.
If this is your first time with Lena’s Piano, thank you for trusting me with your musical journey. If you’re returning, welcome back—let’s pick up where we left off and aim higher this year.
I look forward to seeing steady progress, bright smiles, and beautiful music. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions or to share your musical goals.
Musically yours,
Lena’s Piano
